The Happiness Scale® Certification
Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: August 1, 2026
Thank you for joining The Happiness Scale® Certification Program®. This is a learning program created by ACB Ideas LLC (the “Company”) where you will get trained to deliver The Happiness Scale®—our proprietary assessment and methodology for helping individuals understand and work to improve their happiness and wellbeing (the “Program”).
By signing up for this Program, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and agree to the terms below and to participate fully in the scheduled classes and commitments with the other participants who signed up in the same group as you (“cohort”). The Company reserves the right to add, remove, or change any parts of the Program at our sole discretion at any time. We may also update the Program and these terms and conditions in the future; your continued participation in the Program means you accept any changes.
Our Program
The Company will train you in The Happiness Scale® methodology, provided you comply with the terms of this agreement. The specifics:
- Cost: Standard enrollment rates will be provided on the program checkout page
- Provider: ACB Ideas LLC
- Certification Program commitment includes:
- Completion of required pre-work in a members-only portal, to include videos, readings, and quizzes
- 2 days of live-facilitated sessions on Zoom, camera-ready and attended in full (active participation is required).
- Graded practice debrief session with one of our trained facilitators.
Requirements for The Happiness Scale® Certification
You become a Certified Practitioner for The Happiness Scale® once you:
- Attend and participate in full in all Course live sessions.
- Complete all pre- and post-coursework.
- Successful completion of the practice debrief session with one of our trained facilitators.
- Pay all Program fees in full.
You have 21 days from the date of the last live class to complete all certification requirements. We will issue you a Certificate of Completion for the program, which is yours regardless of whether you renew your certification credentials.
What Happens Once I’m Certified?
Upon successful completion of required coursework and assessments, and contingent upon maintaining current, active certification status, you are authorized to use The Happiness Scale® logo and the “Certified Happiness Scale® Practitioner” title and badge and may hold yourself out as a “Certified Happiness Scale® Practitioner” and utilize the title “Certified Happiness Scale® Practitioner” in personal marketing, social media, web copy, resume listings, and promotional media.
Important Restrictions:
Certification does not grant an affiliation with or endorsement by Arthur C. Brooks. You may not use the name Arthur Brooks in your marketing or business materials, or as part of your biography or credentials.
While your certification is active, you will also receive access to a private members-only portal, Materials, and our broader community.
Annual Certification Renewal
Your first 12 months of certification as a Certified Practitioner are included in your Program fee. After that, annual certification must be renewed with a payment of $500 per year, which includes updated resources and complimentary annual access to the Meaning Membership .
If your certification credentials have expired, you may not represent yourself as a certified practitioner. In such cases, marketing and promotional statements are limited to accurate historical completion statements, such as: “I have completed The Happiness Scale® training program.”
Authorization to display or distribute The Happiness Scale® logos, trademarks, and associated brand collateral in marketing—as well as access to the members-only digital portal—shall automatically expire upon the lapse or non-renewal of active certification status.
Requirements and Expectations
The Happiness Scale® is a deeply personal tool designed to help participants build a better life. As a Program participant, you agree to reflect our Company’s commitment to a happier, healthier, world and demonstrate that commitment in your personal and professional work and life. You must respect the confidentiality of your fellow participants and treat the stories they may share as strictly confidential.
Participants are expected to:
- Be over the age of 18 at the time of participation.

- Treat classmates, fellow practitioners, facilitators, and community members with respect.
- Keep personal stories and participant information that may be shared completely confidential.
